What is Botox and how is it used?

Botox is a drug made from a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Doctors and nurses use it in small doses to treat health problems, including temporary smoothing of facial wrinkles and improving appearance, severe sweating, TMJ, migraine headaches, tremors and more. 

 

How long does Botox last for?

In general, Botox lasts 3-4 months. It may last as long as 6 months, or as short as 2 months.

 

What are the side effects of Botox?

Although it is rare, Botox may have mild to severe side effect.  Mild side effects include redness, bruising, infection, and pain at the injection site. Very rarely, more severe side effects can occur such as dizziness, mild difficulty swallowing, respiratory infections such as cold or flu, pain, nausea, headache, and muscle weakness may occur when this medication is used to relax muscles.
